Introducing myself

poison ivy

Yes, this picture is me.  Dressed as Poison Ivy.  From this, it is safe to assume that I am no stranger to pop culture.  A book nerd married to a Star Wars geek, I feel I have a good understanding of some of the ways that popular culture can influence society.

So when I found out one of the subjects I would be studying as a part of my Master’s Degree on my way to becoming a teacher-librarian was Youth, Popular Culture and Texts, I was excited!

I’ve been learning more about pop culture and participatory culture, texts and how they influence and are influenced by the youth of today.

The aim of this blog is to share with you the insights I have learned as I explore this subject.  Stay tuned!

  1. What a great outfit! A book nerd married to a Star Wars geek… you should probably be helping to teach this course then, I bet you have a lot to share 🙂

Great idea adding a Goodreads widget to your blog by the way. Do you think it’s too late to create a CLN647 group on that platform to discuss popular books?

    1. I like that idea! I love chatting about books with other people, and getting new recommendations. Although ever since joining Goodreads my ‘to read’ list has grown completely out of hand.

  2. Sorry I’ve taken so long to check out your blog. I was confused by the name thing. I was excited to see Saga in your Goodreads list. I’ve been downloading each issue, but haven’t got around to reading it yet. Have you read Y: The Last Man (also by Brian K Vaughan)?
